WELL WELL WELL…
If it is your first time here, welcome, meet our dearest bastard… Bâtard is an annual festival based in Brussels that presents local and international artists needing to “emerge”. Beside its public episodes (as in, being a festival!), it also functions as a platform that nurtures, connects and supports the professional development of artists and cultural workers all year round.
Welcome to Bâtard 2023 – Part 2: MAGIC SELLS

They say time is money, but money cannot buy your time, ask Elon, he tried.
As the clock ticks down, a bunch of talented charlatans have brewed super-potent elixirs, promising climaxes of art and pleasures of togetherness.
In this swirling mist, we ask, have you been dreaming lately? How can the richers be Tycoons by now ?

Last April, spring was coming, magic cells spread intentionally, enhancing your souls like a cloud of glitter over your most sexy skirt.
But dear Bastards, spell ‘magictraders’, can’t you see it?
Autumn comes and brings old and new circles, mournful lovers, and cruel spectacle of this looping interface. You knew it was on its way, fall always is.

So take your courage à deux mains, gather strength from your scorpio friends, and let’s celebrate the dark, transcend the unknown, confront the sarcastic magic, bad luck, unexpected scams and unforeseen retrogrades.
It’s time to unmask the Fake Friends, the Tokenist Vampires, the Hypocrite Dinosaurs, the Abandoned Alliances, the Inaction hiding behind beautiful façade-discourses and voldemorts.
Wait, don’t be sad…
⋘ 𝑃𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑖𝑡… ⋙ ﾟ･｡･ﾟ
The villains don’t seem to slow down, chronicling blues, mic dropping, splitting and slaying as collective utopia unfolds.
Our baddy bastards always rise, louder, sharper, ready to transcend the delusional empire’s fall and infiltrate it for good. Deciphering the million nuances of existence, whether in stock exchanges, drop shipping or ponzi schemes.

We’re set to re-bastardize, open up yet another marble-ous galaxy. An intentional, experienced calculus transmitted by self-taught experts in the subject matter.
Here, no formula guarantees direct investment, the power of spell-culation will be your guide.
Trust us, THIS IS PURE GOLD.
For better or worse,
In sickness and in health,
in success, in failure,
With and without subsidy,
To love and to cherish,
Until we are parted by death.
Just breathe and come waste your precious time with us.

The show on the first evening (15th April) is a separatistic evening for people of the global majority/BIPOC. So please only book that evening if you identify with those terms. The show on the 16th of April is open for all. ---- We, Adam and Amina Seid Tahir, see how the terms BIPOC and people of color are less fortunate in their attempts of combating white supremacist andimperialistic ideologies, since they form in relation to whiteness (those ”not of color”) and therefore keeps whiteness as the norm. We rather use the term people of the global majority since we aren’t interested in identifying in relation to whiteness or white supremacy. ---- The term Global Majority was coined by Rosemary Campbell-Stephens. ”Global Majority refers to people who are Black, Asian, Brown, dual-heritage, indigenous to the global south, and or have been racialised as 'ethnic minorities’.” 1 This term was created for people of the global majority to not have to identify in relation to whiteness and to emphasize the fact that these groups make up the majority of the world’s population, specifically 80%. ---- The reason for choosing to use the term BIPOC despite this, is because we’re aware that the term people of the global majority hasn’t received as widespread attention yet. And since our main goal for this showing is to welcome our siblings from the global majority for a showing without the presence of a white colonial gaze, we choose to use the term that seems to be most commonly used in this festivals locality. ---- 1. Global Majority; Decolonising the language and Reframing the Conversation about Race” by Rosemary Campbell-Stephens, 2020
