We asked each artist to share what we're calling their 'Private Islands'—those special online spaces they retreat to for inspiration or simply to escape the everyday. These are the websites, videos, and digital nooks that fuel their creativity, offer solace, or provide a fresh perspective.

it's night time, early morning, midday, it's yesterday, it's tomorrow and it never ends. i'm calling out to you on a text again. sending that memestream to make your days because i needed to make my day brighter. you send me a selfie from your car when you are in between worlds. living our lives in different cities but you are with me all the time. I tried to clear out my phone, it was a 20 gb cloud between us. I couldn't delete that. colliding into each other like clouds, grows out of a practice where we fall into each other. Intertwined, we carry each other with both tenderness and support. Supporting each other in different ways, playing with all of our humorous, intense, and beautiful associations. A dance drawing the outlines of staying together apart, constantly connected, gentle with each other. In this movement, in this moment, two bodies meet, and the only option is to move with trust and care. As if to say, I am here for you, I move, you move, we move.

Lydia and BamBam met for the first time in the fall of 2018, with curiosity and care, a lifelong friendship began that seeps into various types of artistic collaborations. In autumn 2021, they had the premiere of Choreographic Conversation at the Modern Museum and Immortal Summit at MDT Stockholm, in these works their common practice tumbling is the basis. Tumbling is representative of their friendship and cooperation, they challenge, pull, lift and are there for support when the other falls. Lydia Östberg Diakité is an ivorian-swedish artist that works with choreography as a point of direction into performance, video, text and installations to convey complex narratives through a black feminist gaze. Their work focuses on themes of identity, power, heritage, social and popular cultural references and performative gestures. They are co-founder of Dance Cooperative in Copenhagen - an artist-run platform and studio currently run by 13 performing artists, and part of The Union Collective - that works with building decolonial and anti-racist discourse within the art and culture scene in Denmark. Lydia studied at The Danish national School of Performing arts. BamBam Frost is an artist working through different mediums to create performance, choreography and spacial installations. Her interests vary and keep transforming, but can at the moment be divided into two dynamic pools. One of entertainment history, popular culture, contemporary social phenomena and contemporary art, recognizable materials that are played with, aiming to de and reconstruct. The other pool is investigating transcendence, pleasure, tactility, empathy, care and vulnerability. Frost holds a BA in contemporary dance and performance from Stockholm University of Arts and is currently enrolled in a MFA at the Stockholms Royal institute of Art.
